Blanche Virk holds an M.A. in Counseling and Guidance from the University of
San Francisco and is certified in College Admissions Advising by the University of California, Berkeley.
She has assisted families with the admissions process since l992, and has served as an instructor and guest speaker for the College Admissions Advising Program at UC Berkeley Extension.
She has presented and coordinated panels on the athletic recruiting process for the Western Association of College Admissions Counselors and the Higher Education Consultants Association. She has been a speaker at high school parent nights, the Marin College Fair, the College of Marin, the Princeton Review, and the National Charity League.
In addition, she is the founding member of Bay Area College Admission Consultants.
A former Peace Corps Volunteer, teacher of English and students with learning differences,
Blanche is also the mother of an MD/PhD medical resident in neurosurgery at Cornell-Weill Medical Center in NYC (Saint Ignatius ’93; Cornell ’97 – Northeastern Rugby Champion),
an MS student at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service who has served in Russia, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the Caucasus (SI ’95; UC Berkeley 2000 – National Rugby Champion and All-American),
a professional athlete and Head Lacrosse Coach at Stanford University (SI ’99 – Lacrosse All-American; Maryland ’04 – NCAA Lacrosse Semi-Finalist),
and a daughter who recently graduated from UCLA (San Francisco University HS ’05 – Marin Rowing Association and UCLA Rowing).
